CHICAGO (CBS) — In a shocking incident in the Irving Park neighborhood, a 64-year-old man has been charged with shooting a 70-year-old man during an argument on Thursday morning. John Kastanes was apprehended by the Chicago Police Department in the 3800 block of North Keeler Avenue and faces multiple felony charges.

Kastanes has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with discharge of a firearm, and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm. According to the police, Kastanes was identified as the assailant who shot the victim just ten minutes prior at the same location.

The altercation between the two individuals escalated when Kastanes pulled out a firearm and fired shots at the victim, striking him in the right arm. The injured man was promptly transported to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where his condition has been stabilized. The motive behind the argument remains unclear.
