Police in Narok South Sub County are currently holding a 33-year-old man who fatally stabbed his neighbour following a quarrel over a two-kilogram packet of maize. The tragic incident took place in THE Ololulunga area, where tensions escalated between the two individuals.

Narok County police commander Riko Ngare revealed that the victim, Nelson Langat, sustained multiple stab wounds during the altercation with his friend and neighbour, identified as Hillary. The disagreement over the maize flour quickly turned violent, leading to Langat being rushed to Ololulunga sub-county hospital with critical injuries to his neck, chest, and back.

Despite efforts to save him, Langat tragically succumbed to his injuries after being transferred to Longisa hospital in Bomet County. The community was left shocked by the sudden loss, with the area chief reporting the incident to the authorities.

The primary suspect, Hillary, voluntarily surrendered himself to the Ololulunga police station, where he remains in custody pending further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation. The community is reeling from the tragic loss of Langat and the unprecedented violence that erupted over a seemingly trivial dispute.

Tragic Death of Chang’aa Convict in Police Custody

In a separate incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, a man convicted of possessing two litres of illicit brew, chang’aa, faced a grim fate while in police custody. Emmanuel Kigen, who had been sentenced to a fine of Sh. 10,000 or three months imprisonment, collapsed and died under mysterious circumstances.

According to the police report, Kigen was among a group of prisoners in police custody when he suddenly complained of dizziness and a severe headache. As he was being escorted out of the court’s cells, he collapsed and struck his head on a metallic door, resulting in fatal injuries.

Efforts to save Kigen’s life proved futile, and he was pronounced dead upon arrival at Narok County Referral Hospital. His body now rests in the hospital’s morgue, as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding his untimely demise.

These tragic incidents serve as stark reminders of the fragility of life and the need for peaceful resolutions to conflicts in our communities. The authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served and to prevent further loss of life due to senseless violence.
