A Clarkston resident found himself in hot water on Wednesday evening when he was apprehended by Lewiston police on charges of trafficking cocaine. The incident took place at around 6:00 p.m. when a Lewiston Police Officer pulled over a Ford F150 at the intersection of 9th Avenue and 6th Street in Lewiston. The vehicle had been observed driving in the wrong direction on a one-way street, prompting the traffic stop.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer engaged with the female driver who claimed she had not realised she was driving on a one-way street. The male passenger, identified as 31-year-old Elias Bradley, drew the attention of the officer due to his involvement in previous drug-related investigations.

Subsequently, the Lewiston Police Department’s K9 unit, Ziva, was called in and signalled the presence of narcotics near the passenger’s side of the vehicle, where Bradley was seated. Following this indication, Bradley was asked to step out of the vehicle, leading to the discovery of a blue bag containing items owned by Bradley. Within the bag, a multi-coloured zippered pouch was discovered, containing multiple baggies of a white powder substance believed to be cocaine.

The total weight of the cocaine found was recorded at 44 grams, with an additional amount discovered in a plastic baggie nestled in the door panel beside Bradley. While Bradley admitted to using cocaine and claimed ownership of the paraphernalia found in the vehicle, he denied any knowledge of the cocaine discovered during the search.

During questioning, Bradley refused to grant detectives access to his phone for potential evidence of drug-related conversations. The female driver, who professed to have limited acquaintance with Bradley, stated that she was only providing him with a ride.

Following the arrest, Bradley was charged with trafficking cocaine exceeding 28 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was subsequently taken to Nez Perce County Jail, where his bail was set at $30,000 during a court appearance on Thursday. Notably, in Idaho, trafficking cocaine ranging from 28 to 200 grams carries a mandatory minimum sentence of three years in prison and a $10,000 fine. It was also revealed that Bradley is currently on probation in Washington state.
