Accident – Death – Obituary News :

An incident of violence unfolded at the San Bernardino County jail, where an inmate made a knife while incarcerated and attempted to stab another inmate and a sheriff’s deputy, authorities revealed on Friday.

The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 2:45 p.m. at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. Christopher Lommie Jackson, 25, attempted to stab a 28-year-old inmate with a homemade metal knife, as per a statement from the Sheriff’s Department.

Upon the arrival of deputies at the cell, Jackson allegedly attacked a 45-year-old deputy, causing him to be knocked to the ground. Additional deputies intervened to halt the assault.

Footage released by the Sheriff’s Department captures Jackson lunging at the deputy with a knife and engaging in a physical altercation until other deputies separated them.

The deputy, whose identity remains undisclosed, sustained moderate facial injuries and was treated at a hospital before being released. It is uncertain whether the other inmate sustained any injuries during the altercation.

Jackson, a resident of San Bernardino, has been in custody since 2019 following a plea agreement related to a murder case, according to court records. He received a 50-year to life prison sentence. Jackson is set to face charges of attempted murder in connection with the recent attack, authorities confirmed.

San Bernardino Sheriff Shannon Dicus expressed concern over the violent incident, stating, “Such violent behavior poses a serious threat to the safety and security of our staff and inmate populations.”
