CEBU CITY, Philippines – A 21-year-old individual is facing legal consequences after being apprehended for allegedly pilfering a container of marinated chicken meat from a neighbor and subsequently selling it on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.
The suspect, identified as Brylle Bacalso, 21, resides in Purok Sambag, Barangay Tisa in Cebu City. The victim of the theft was Bacalso’s neighbor, 23-year-old Journel Cardeño.
According to police reports, the incident took place in Sitio Manol, Barangay Tisa around 3:00 p.m. on the aforementioned Wednesday.

The victim reported to authorities at the Labangon Police Station that Bacalso allegedly stole a container containing marinated chicken meat valued at approximately P1,500.
Upon discovering the missing chicken meat, the victim sought the help of barangay tanods to apprehend the suspect, whom he had reportedly seen carrying the container.
Later that day, Bacalso was caught by the victim through a citizen’s arrest and handed over to the Labangon Police Station.
Police Major Eraño Regidor, chief of the Labangon Police Station, stated that Bacalso confessed to stealing the chicken meat out of financial necessity.
Bacalso admitted to authorities that he sold the meat in order to obtain funds for a specific purchase, although he did not specify the nature of the item he intended to buy.
Regidor added that initial assessments suggest the suspect may have intended to use the money for illicit purposes.
As of now, Bacalso is in temporary custody at the Labangon Police Station pending the filing of charges against him.
The suspect will be charged with theft, as confirmed by the police chief.
