KARIMNAGAR: A tragic incident unfolded in Telangana’s Peddapalli district as a six-year-old girl fell victim to a heinous crime of rape and murder at a rice mill. The accused, identified as Balaram, a 35-year-old labourer hailing from Madhya Pradesh, has been apprehended and charged under the stringent POCSO Act.

M Sreenivasulu, the Ramagundam Police Commissioner, disclosed that the harrowing incident transpired in the early hours at a camp within the rice mill compound in Sultanabad. The perpetrator allegedly abducted the minor girl from the camp where she was sleeping alongside her mother. Subsequently, he committed the abhorrent acts of rape and murder.

Upon the victim’s resistance and outcry, the accused callously silenced her by strangulation, leading to her untimely demise. The swift response from local residents resulted in the apprehension of the culprit, who was promptly handed over to the authorities. A case has been registered against him encompassing charges of rape and murder, along with additional sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

The lifeless body of the young victim has been dispatched to a government hospital for a thorough postmortem examination, as confirmed by the Police Commissioner. In adherence to Supreme Court directives safeguarding the privacy of sexual assault victims, the identity of the deceased girl has been withheld from public disclosure.
