ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – The Alaskan community is mourning the loss of 23-year-old Adam Trujillo, a dedicated construction worker who tragically lost his life in a workplace incident on the North Slope. Adam, originally from Soldotna, was a welder’s helper at Chosen Construction Inc., where he was working towards becoming an operator on the North Slope.

Adam’s father, Jim Trujillo, described his son as an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed shooting competitively and recreationally. He was a member of the SnowShoe Gun Club in Kenai and was passionate about fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature.

Born in Anchorage, Adam grew up on the Kenai Peninsula, where he played basketball from a young age until his high school graduation at Kenai Central. He also worked as a commercial fisherman from ages 16 to 20, showcasing his strong work ethic and love for the Alaskan lifestyle.

The Trujillo family has been overwhelmed by the support and love they’ve received from friends and the community during this difficult time. They are currently focusing on bringing Adam’s remains back home and have not yet organized a memorial service.

Adam’s tragic accident occurred at the Central Compression Plant in Prudhoe Bay, a vital hub of Alaska’s oil and gas industry. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development has launched an investigation into the incident, which involved lifting operations during an emissions stack assembly.

Jim Trujillo fondly remembers his son as a joyful and vibrant individual who brought light into the world. “He enjoyed life,” he said, reflecting on Adam’s love for adventure and the outdoors.
