Authorities have apprehended two individuals in connection with a violent altercation in Springhill following a vehicular collision in the early hours of June 10th.

Details of the Incident

The Cumberland County District RCMP responded to a distress call in the 100 block of McGee St. at approximately 4:40 a.m. following reports of a car crashing into a parked vehicle.

According to law enforcement officials, a 50-year-old Springhill resident, who witnessed the collision, attempted to prevent the suspects from fleeing and was subsequently assaulted with a sharp object.

The victim was rushed to a nearby medical facility with injuries described as non-life-threatening by the police.

Arrests Made

The suspects, a 31-year-old female and a 22-year-old male, both from Springhill, initially managed to evade capture at the scene. However, following an intensive investigation, the woman was located and taken into custody the following day. A warrant was issued for the arrest of the male suspect, identified as Spencer Hatton, who was apprehended without incident later that day.

Hatton has been detained pending a court appearance at Amherst Provincial Court on June 18th, where he will face a range of charges including Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, and Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm.

The 31-year-old female accomplice, whose identity remains undisclosed, has been released on bail with specific conditions. She is slated to appear in Amherst Provincial Court on August 12th to answer charges of Failing to Stop After an Accident and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime.
