The tragic incident in which a young man was fatally stabbed in the stomach with a pair of scissors in Paravur, Ernakulam, has been declared a murder by the police. The victim, identified as Sibin from Pallipuram, was involved in a verbal altercation with his wife, Ramani, which led to the fatal stabbing. Ramani, aged 38, has been arrested by the authorities in connection with the incident.
Details of the Incident
The incident took place on June 2 at the couple’s rented house in Paravur. Initially, Ramani claimed to her relatives that the injury was caused when Sibin threw the scissors against the wall and it accidentally fell on his stomach. Sibin was rushed to a private hospital in Paravur, and later transferred to Thrissur Medical College for further treatment. However, despite the medical efforts, Sibin succumbed to his injuries at Thrissur Medical College.
Investigation and Arrest
Following the suspicions raised by Sibin’s mother, a complaint was lodged with the police. After a detailed investigation, it was determined that Sibin’s death was not accidental but a deliberate act of murder. The police arrested Ramani in connection with the crime.
History of Conflict
Sibin and Ramani were known to have a history of frequent arguments and fights. On the day of the incident, a heated argument ensued between the couple when Sibin returned home at noon. In a moment of anger, Sibin grabbed a pair of scissors and attempted to attack Ramani. In an act of self-defence, Ramani managed to snatch the scissors from Sibin’s hand and fatally stabbed him in the stomach. The Vadakkekara police have registered a case of involuntary manslaughter against Ramani.
Legal Proceedings
A post-mortem examination revealed that the nature of Sibin’s injury was not consistent with Ramani’s initial explanation, leading to her arrest. The couple, who had a love marriage, are survived by two school-going children. Ramani has been produced in court and remanded as the legal proceedings continue.
