Authorities in Panama City Beach, Florida, are currently conducting a death investigation after a tragic incident involving a woman falling out of a moving Jeep on Front Beach Road.
The incident, which occurred in the early hours of June 13, has left the community in shock. At around 12:02 a.m., Panama City Beach Police received a distress call regarding a woman who had suffered severe head trauma after falling from a moving vehicle near the Hidden Lagoon Golf and Racetrack.
The woman has been identified as 49-year-old Sherry Richie, hailing from New Iberia, Louisiana. Witnesses at the scene recounted the harrowing events that led to Richie’s tragic demise.
Eyewitnesses reported that Richie was riding in a Jeep Wrangler with the doors removed when the accident occurred. She was allegedly unsecured and leaning out of the vehicle in what witnesses described as a careless manner.
Despite the swift response from emergency services, including Panama City Beach Fire Rescue and Bay County EMS, Richie succumbed to her injuries at the scene.
Authorities have stated that the driver of the Jeep was not under the influence of any substances at the time of the incident. They have also indicated that there is currently no evidence to suggest that the driver’s actions played a role in the tragic event.
