25-Year-Old Man Climbs High-Tension Electricity Tower in Hyderabad

A 25-year-old man caused a stir at Sankeshwar Bazaar in Saidabad, Hyderabad, when he climbed a high-tension electricity tower following an alleged altercation with his wife.

The man, identified as Mohan, a labourer residing in Singareni Colony, was reportedly upset after his wife scolded him for returning home intoxicated. In a fit of anger, he made his way to the nearest high-tension electricity tower on the Sankeshwar Bazaar road and ascended it.

Passersby noticed Mohan’s precarious position and promptly alerted the local power department officials, who acted swiftly to cut off the power supply to prevent any accidents. The police were informed and arrived at the scene, trying to persuade Mohan to descend. Despite their efforts, he remained unyielding.

With no other recourse, law enforcement officers decided to climb the tower to reach Mohan. Seeing them approach, Mohan relented and came down voluntarily, after which he was taken into custody by the police.

A case was registered against Mohan under Section 206(2) (a minor offence) of the Indian Penal Code. Following counselling, he was released into the custody of his family.
