Two young girls tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident in Winnebago County, Wisconsin. The incident occurred when the ATV they were operating was struck by a car while crossing a roadway, leading to fatal consequences.

The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office received reports of the accident on Bonnie View Road near County Highway 44 in the Town of Utica at approximately 12:41 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon arrival at the scene, responders discovered a car had collided with an ATV in the roadway. The two occupants of the ATV, identified as 11-year-old Mesa Fredenhagen and 7-year-old Kennedi Harris from Oshkosh, sustained severe injuries. Despite immediate life-saving measures, one victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while the other passed away later at the hospital.

According to investigators, the driver of the car involved in the collision promptly contacted emergency services. Despite sustaining minor injuries, she, along with her 13-year-old son, provided first aid to the victims of the ATV. The tragic incident has left the community in shock and mourning.

Social media reports have indicated that the girls were crossing the road in order to view horses on the other side. Under Wisconsin State Law, the operation of ATVs on public roads is restricted and, in most cases, illegal. However, there are allowances for crossing roadways. It is important to note that the State prohibits individuals under the age of 12 from operating ATVs without a valid safety certificate.
