A man from Venice is currently in custody following a tragic incident that resulted in the death of the manager of a popular bar in Santa Monica. The altercation took place outside Jameson’s Pub on Main Street, where the victim was fatally injured after asking several patrons to leave the establishment.
According to Santa Monica police Lt. Erika Aklufi, the altercation escalated when one of the patrons punched the manager, causing him to lose consciousness. Despite the efforts of officers and the Santa Monica Fire Department to administer CPR and provide lifesaving measures, the victim ultimately succumbed to his injuries after being transported to a local hospital.
The suspect responsible for the fatal assault has been identified as 26-year-old Leonard Hector Korpie from Venice. He is currently being held on $2 million bail as the investigation into the incident continues. The names of the other two patrons involved in the altercation have not been released, and it is unclear what charges they may face.
