Arrest Made in String of Robberies in York County

HOLLIS, Maine — An arrest has been made in a series of robberies in York County, but authorities are still searching for a second suspect. Deputies have identified the second suspect as 37-year-old Kyle Allman of Hollis, and warrants for his arrest are pending.

Robbery at Main Street Variety Store

On June 7 at approximately 11:55 a.m., the Buxton Communications Center received a report of a robbery at the Main Street Variety store located at 123 Main St. in Buxton. According to the report, a man entered the store, brandished a handgun, and demanded cash from the clerk, as per the York County Sheriff’s Office.

The suspect then fled the scene in a silver Nissan Frontier with New Hampshire plates, as reported by the sheriff’s office. Law enforcement agencies, including Buxton police, immediately began searching for the suspect vehicle and gathering evidence at the scene.

Discovery of Stolen Vehicle and Bank Robbery

On Monday, Buxton police located the suspect vehicle on an abandoned railroad bed off of River Road. The vehicle, determined to be stolen from Gorham, was found unoccupied, and evidence was collected from it.

Later that week, a bank robbery was reported at the Gorham Savings Bank on Sokokis Trail in Waterboro. Buxton police, York County deputies, and state police collaborated in the search for the suspect, who reportedly fled on a dirt bike and was sighted in Hollis before evading state troopers.

Arrest of Timothy Riley

Following an intensive investigation, a suspect was identified and apprehended. At around 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, a detective with Buxton police encountered the suspect, identified as 41-year-old Timothy Riley of Westbrook, on Plains Road in Hollis.

Despite attempts to speak with Riley, he fled in a vehicle towards Buxton, leading to a pursuit that ended in a crash on Mary Jane Road. Riley and another individual fled on foot, but officers managed to apprehend Riley on the back porch of a residence.

Riley was charged with two counts of robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, eluding officers, and a probation violation. However, the search continues for the second suspect, Kyle Allman, and authorities urge anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact local law enforcement or call 9-1-1.

Collaborative Investigation

The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Maine Warden Service provided assistance in the investigation, highlighting the collaborative effort of law enforcement agencies in addressing criminal activities in the region.
