Jacob McCulley : “Man Arrested for Fleeing Traffic Stop, Hitting Police Car”

A man from Viola was apprehended on Wednesday night following a high-speed pursuit in a stolen vehicle in Dover, Delaware.

According to reports, the incident unfolded at approximately 10:15 p.m. when a trooper patrolling Route 13 near POW/MIA Parkway observed a black GMC Terrain run a stop sign. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Upon attempting to pull over the stolen vehicle, the driver, later identified as 32-year-old Jacob McCulley, engaged in a reckless evasion, speeding through various streets in the Dover area. The chase culminated in a collision with a marked Dover Police Department vehicle at the intersection of Wyoming Avenue and New Burton Road. Despite the impact, McCulley fled on foot but was swiftly apprehended by law enforcement officers.

During a subsequent search of both the vehicle and McCulley’s person, authorities uncovered heroin and drug paraphernalia. As a result, McCulley was charged with several offenses, including receiving stolen property valued over $1500, disregarding a police officer’s signal, resisting arrest, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and multiple traffic violations. He is currently being held on a $5,458 secured bond.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the chase and subsequent arrest.
