Accident – Death – Obituary News : A 33-year-old man from San Diego County has been identified as a suspect in the assault of a Riverside County Deputy Sheriff that led to the death of a female suspect. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning in the 1000 block of West 6th Street in Corona, as per a news release from the RCSD.
The deputy was in pursuit of multiple suspects who fled when he attempted to approach them. As the deputy turned a corner, the male suspect, later identified as Eric Nourani, allegedly attacked him, resulting in a physical altercation. During the struggle, a female suspect joined in and the deputy fired his weapon, injuring the woman. Despite receiving medical attention, she sadly passed away at a nearby hospital.
Both Nourani and the deputy sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Nourani was subsequently booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center on charges including murder, attempted murder of a peace officer, mayhem, and resisting an officer with violence.
The California Department of Justice is leading the investigation into the incident, particularly the deputy-involved shooting. The deputy involved has been placed on paid administrative leave, following RCSD protocol.
