INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Authorities have taken a 17-year-old into custody in connection with the tragic shooting death of a 15-year-old in 2023 on the east side of Indianapolis. The incident took place in the early hours of Oct. 21 in the 2100 block of North Emerson Avenue.
Upon receiving a distress call, officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan East District rushed to the scene and discovered the victim, Edwin Simon-Osorio, inside a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Tragically, despite the efforts of medics, Osorio was pronounced dead at the scene.
Further investigations revealed that the fatal shooting had occurred in the 5400 block of East 20th Street. Thanks to the collaboration of witnesses and the collection of evidence, including forensic analysis, a 17-year-old suspect was identified and subsequently apprehended by homicide detectives.
Charges
The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office wasted no time in filing murder charges against the juvenile suspect on Monday. The legal proceedings will now unfold as the case moves through the criminal justice system.
