Accident – Death – Obituary News :

An Iron Ridge resident, Dennis Grosenick, has been sentenced to five years in prison for his 8th Operating While Under the Influence (OWI) offense. The sentence comes after Grosenick entered a no contest plea in connection with an incident that occurred in November last year.

Incident Details

The incident unfolded when a sheriff’s deputy responded to a report of a man passed out in a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway in the township of Hubbard. Upon arrival, the deputy found the vehicle running with its brake lights illuminated. After putting the vehicle in park, the deputy detected a strong odour of intoxicants emanating from the vehicle.

The driver, identified as Dennis Grosenick, displayed slurred speech and confusion. Despite being asked to perform a field sobriety test and a preliminary breath test, Grosenick refused and was subsequently taken into custody for OWI.

Discovery of Evidence

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities found an open bottle of liquor that was three-quarters full. Subsequent tests conducted at the jail revealed that Grosenick had a blood alcohol level of point-one-five-five (.155). It is worth noting that Grosenick, who is 72 years old, has a history of OWI convictions dating back to 1994 and as recent as 2012.

Sentencing and Supervision

In addition to the five-year prison sentence, Grosenick has also been placed on extended supervision for a period of five years. This strict penalty reflects the severity of his repeated offences and serves as a deterrent to prevent further instances of drunk driving.

Driving under the influence poses a serious threat to road safety and can have devastating consequences. It is crucial for individuals to understand the risks associated with drunk driving and to act responsibly when operating a vehicle.
