Two teenagers from Chippewa Lake have tragically lost their lives in a devastating early morning crash on Ryan Road, near the intersection of Eastlake Road in Lafayette Township, Medina County.
The incident occurred around 5:35 a.m. on Thursday, prompting a swift response from troopers at the Medina Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a 2010 Hyundai Accent had veered off the roadway.
The two occupants of the vehicle, identified as 18-year-old Dale Wurgler, the driver, and 19-year-old Alex Limas, the front-seat passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision.
Initial investigations suggest that the Hyundai was travelling northbound on Ryan Road when it departed the right side of the road, overcorrected, and subsequently veered off the left side of the roadway, ultimately colliding with a ditch.
According to a press release from the Highway Patrol, the vehicle then struck a street sign, overturned, and crashed into a tree. Speed is believed to have played a significant role in the accident.
Multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Medina County Sheriff’s Office, Medina Police Department, and Medina County Coroner’s Office, collaborated at the scene to manage the aftermath of the tragedy.
