Accident – Death – Obituary News :

Sioux Falls Police uncovered startling details on Thursday regarding the tragic death of a 35-year-old Valley Springs man involved in a motorcycle collision early Wednesday morning. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of E. Benson Road and N. Sycamore Ave around 1 a.m., has been linked to high-speed racing activities.

Authorities rushed to the scene after receiving reports of a severe traffic accident. Upon arrival, officers discovered a motorcycle had collided with a parked car, resulting in the untimely death of the motorcycle operator, identified as Anatoliy Manuylo.

A thorough investigation revealed that Manuylo, along with another motorcyclist, were engaged in a reckless race along Sycamore Ave at speeds exceeding 100 mph. Eyewitnesses in the vicinity confirmed that a group had assembled at the location for the purpose of participating in illicit racing events.

During a press briefing, Police Chief Jon Thum emphasised the inherent dangers associated with such activities and highlighted the department’s ongoing efforts to curb this behaviour. “We’ve stepped up enforcement, issued a record number of citations, and focused our attention on specific areas within the city. Ultimately, the decision to engage in such risky behaviour lies with the individuals involved. The loss of life is truly tragic, and our goal is to prevent further incidents like this to spare other families from enduring similar heartbreak,” stated Chief Thum.

Chief Thum also disclosed that the Sioux Falls Police Department has been in discussions with state lawmakers to push for stricter penalties for individuals caught partaking in high-speed racing. Presently, the typical punishment for such offences is a fine of up to $500, a penalty Chief Thum believes is insufficient to deter dangerous behaviour on the roads.
