The tragic hit-and-run crash in Southeast, D.C. on Wednesday resulted in the death of a 62-year-old man and left his wife injured. The couple was crossing the street at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and Naylor Road when a white Ford Taurus with dark tinted windows struck them.
Search for the Driver
Authorities are currently searching for the driver responsible for the fatal crash. The driver fled the scene after hitting the couple and dragging the man underneath the car through a parking lot. The victim, identified as Alton Kelly of Southeast, was pronounced dead at the scene, while his wife was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of her injuries. Fortunately, she is expected to recover.
Details of the Incident
The incident occurred just after noon on Wednesday, June 12, as the couple was using the crosswalk to navigate the intersection. Despite efforts to locate the driver, they have not yet been found. The car involved in the crash has been located by detectives, but the driver remains at large.
