A devastating trucking incident in Crawfordsville has resulted in the tragic death of a man identified as Adam Raad from Aslip, Ill. The incident took place in the parking lot of Lakeside Book Company, North Plant, located in the 1000 block of Sloan St. The Crawfordsville Police Department responded to a report of a severe accident on Wednesday.
Upon arrival at the scene, emergency crews discovered Raad at the back of a flatbed semi-trailer. He was promptly treated and transported to a local hospital, where he was sadly pronounced deceased. Raad, a truck driver for Fast Line Trucking, had been involved in a fatal collision while on duty.
A fellow driver from Fast Line Trucking, who was also scheduled for a pick-up at Lakeside Book Company at the same time, recounted the tragic sequence of events. According to the driver, Raad had climbed onto the back of the trailer to open a container while he was maneuvering a large container towards the back of the trailer using his tandem axles. Tragically, the container collided with Raad, resulting in fatal injuries.
An autopsy has been scheduled for the victim under the supervision of the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
