FORT MYERS, Fla. (WJW) – A tragic incident unfolded in Fort Myers, Florida, on Sunday as a man was shot and killed by police after being discovered holding a knife and a dismembered body while attempting to climb out of a window.
The Fort Myers Police Department released a statement detailing the events that led to the fatal shooting. Officers were called to the area of Grand Avenue and Waltman Street just after 11:30 p.m. following reports of a woman and two small children hiding in a carport.
Upon arrival, the woman informed the officers that her husband, later identified as 33-year-old Willy Lumaine, was in the process of “actively killing” their roommate. This disturbing revelation prompted the officers to investigate further.
They discovered an opened door and a trail of blood at the front of the residence, indicating a violent altercation had taken place. Concerned for the safety of the potential victims, the officers established a perimeter around the home and began issuing verbal commands to Lumaine.

The press release from the Fort Myers Police Department stated, “During the course of the investigation, it was evident that a violent attack had occurred inside the residence.” The victim’s mutilated and dismembered body was found both inside and outside the home, adding a grim layer of horror to the already harrowing incident.
