Accident – Death – Obituary News : An 18-year-old cattle herder, identified as Umaru Abdulai, has been apprehended by the Gomoa Dominase District Police Command for his alleged involvement in the theft of 20 cows valued at GH¢200,000. The incident took place at the Gomoa Dominase Onion Market in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
According to sources within the police department, Abdulai and his partners in crime are suspected of stealing over 20 cows from various individuals in the Gomoa Dominase area. They reportedly sold the stolen livestock to local butchers in Awutu Bawjiase and used a portion of the profits to purchase additional cows from the northern region, integrating them into his father’s existing herd.
Despite owning more than 1,000 cows, neither Abdulai nor his father had reported any previous thefts. In an interview with Adom News, a victim named Umar Inusah, speaking on behalf of those affected, described how the suspects would blend in with the market crowd during the day, discreetly selecting large cows for theft. Under the cover of darkness, they would return to steal the chosen cattle before selling them off to butchers.
Umar Inusah also revealed that a vigilant farmer, who had observed the suspicious activities, alerted a nearby police officer, leading to the arrest of Abdulai. However, his accomplices are still at large.
Expressing concern over the increasing disturbances caused by Fulani herdsmen in the Gomoa Dominase area, Umar Inusah urged the government to take prompt and decisive action to address the situation.
