MANASSAS, Va. (DC News Now) — The Prince William County Police Department announced the arrest and charging of a man involved in a fatal shooting in Manassas.
Incident Details
On May 23 at around 2:40 a.m., officers responded to the 12000 block of Cadet Ct. after receiving reports of a shooting. They discovered two men who had been sleeping in a car. Tragically, one man was shot and killed during the incident, while the other man escaped unharmed.
Further investigation revealed that a verbal altercation had occurred between the victim and the suspect near the car on the evening of May 22. This dispute escalated, leading the suspect to fire multiple shots into the car at the victim the following morning.
Arrest and Evidence
The suspect attempted to conceal evidence from the scene before law enforcement arrived. However, police were able to track down the suspect to a storage unit he was renting. Inside, they discovered two firearms, although neither weapon appeared to have been used in the shooting.
Subsequently, the suspect was identified as 26-year-old Tavaris Maleek Eberhardt. He has been charged with murder, using a firearm in the commission of a felony, two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and tampering with evidence. Eberhardt is currently being held without bond.
Victim Identified
The deceased victim has been identified as 30-year-old Carlos Marcell Moore of Manassas.
