Accident – Death – Obituary News : Four individuals tragically lost their lives in a devastating accident in Salem on Wednesday when their motorcycles were crushed between a truck and a private bus. Among the deceased were two women and a toddler, with one more victim currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
The deceased have been identified as L Vedhavalli, a 29-year-old resident of Poovanur, while the identities of the other three victims remain unknown. The incident occurred when P Lakshmanan, a 35-year-old construction laborer, and his wife Vedhavalli were on their way to a relative’s wedding in Salem city. Accompanying them were another couple and their three-year-old toddler, all traveling on a separate motorcycle from Ayothiyapattinam. Both motorcycles were following a truck when tragedy struck.
As the truck slowed down to navigate a speed bump near Achankuttapatty, the bikers also reduced their speed. However, a speeding bus behind them failed to slow down in time and collided with the motorcycles. The impact caused the bikes to be crushed between the bus and the truck, resulting in severe injuries to the riders. Sadly, all but one victim succumbed to their injuries before emergency services could arrive.
The injured individual was swiftly taken to the Salem government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College and Hospital for urgent medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were also transported to the same facility for postmortem examinations.
