State Police have recently disclosed fresh information regarding the skeletal remains that were unearthed during excavation work at a construction site in Patterson, near the Southeast town line. The victim has been identified as Karen Ramsey, formerly known as Karen Angelillo.
According to Putnam County law enforcement officials, Ramsey went missing in May 1980 from her residence in Southeast. Surprisingly, she was never reported missing, and it was revealed that her husband’s first wife had died under mysterious circumstances.
In a significant turn of events, State Police announced on Tuesday that they have located the first wife, who is currently alive and residing in Florida. She has been cooperating with the investigators, providing valuable information in the case.
Following the discovery of the remains, DNA analysis was conducted, ruling out any connection to the case of missing teenager Robin Murphy. Murphy disappeared without a trace in 1995, sparking one of Putnam County’s most enduring mysteries.
On the evening of April 9, 1995, Murphy was last seen at the Shop-Rite Plaza on Route 52 at the Carmel-Kent line. She was supposed to meet her boyfriend, who worked at a nearby Burger King, but the meeting never took place. Her mother’s car was found in the parking lot, while Robin’s wallet and keys were discovered a few days later in a grassy area behind the shopping center.
Over the years, law enforcement agencies conducted multiple searches in the area, including Ice Pond Road and the Tilly Foster Mine, but no significant clues leading to Murphy’s whereabouts were found. Troop K Public Information Officer Trooper A.J. Hicks urged anyone with pertinent information to contact the State Police Troop K headquarters at 845-677-7300.
The investigation into both cases remains ongoing, with authorities promising to provide updates as new information emerges. The community is encouraged to come forward with any relevant details that could help solve these long-standing mysteries.
