The victim, identified as Guixia Zhu from Union Street, was struck by a Sprinter van driven by a 43-year-old man making a left turn onto Bowne Street. The collision, which occurred at 41-01 Bowne St, resulted in the victim sustaining severe trauma to her body.
Upon receiving a 911 call, officers from the 109th Precinct rushed to the scene where they found the victim lying unconscious on the roadway. Despite efforts by EMS to save her, she was pronounced dead upon arrival at New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. The van driver, who cooperated with authorities, was not arrested at the scene.
