Lawrence, KS – A tragic incident unfolded on Tuesday night in Lawrence, as law enforcement officials responded to a homicide at the intersection of E 25th Terrace and Franklin Road. The incident was reported at 10:33 pm following a physical altercation between two males witnessed by onlookers. Upon arrival, a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office found both individuals on the ground, one of them unconscious. Despite efforts from law enforcement and medical personnel, the 43-year-old victim, identified as Christopher Allen Lickteig, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The suspect, identified as 34-year-old George Luke Miller, was taken into custody by Lawrence Police for questioning and has since been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Both the victim and the suspect were residents of the Lawrence Community Shelter.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the altercation, including the relationship between the two individuals involved. Initial reports suggest that no weapons were used during the incident, and none were found at the scene.
