KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In a tragic incident late Tuesday night, a man was arrested for allegedly beating another man to death in Lawrence, according to police reports.
At approximately 10:33 p.m., law enforcement responded to a call regarding a physical altercation between two men at the intersection of E. 25th Terrace and Franklin Road.
Upon arrival, a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office discovered both men on the ground, with one of them unconscious.
Authorities immediately began administering aid to the victim, who was later identified as 43-year-old Christopher Allen Lickteig. Tragically, Lickteig succumbed to his injuries and passed away at the scene.
The suspect, a 34-year-old man, was swiftly taken into custody by law enforcement officers.
It was revealed that both individuals had been residing at the Lawrence Community Shelter prior to the altercation.
As of now, the motive behind the violent confrontation remains unknown.
