Lawrence Police in the UK are currently investigating a tragic homicide that took place on Tuesday night at the intersection of E 25th Terrace and Franklin Road. The incident, which occurred at 10:33 pm, was reported by witnesses who observed two males engaged in a physical altercation.
Upon arrival at the scene, a deputy from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office found both individuals on the ground, with one of them unconscious. Despite extensive efforts by law enforcement and medical personnel, the 43-year-old man, identified as Christopher Allen Lickteig, tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The suspect, identified as George Luke Miller, was detained by authorities and taken in for questioning. He has since been arrested on suspicion of first-degree murder. Both the victim and the suspect were residents of the Lawrence Community Shelter.
Investigators are currently working to piece together the events of the evening and determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation. At this stage, it is believed that no weapons were involved in the incident, and none were recovered at the scene. Witness statements are being gathered, and leads are being pursued to establish the motive behind the tragic event.
