Accident – Death – Obituary News :
Last week, a tragic accident in Jacumba claimed the life of 54-year-old Bert Gallegos from Ramona, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Gallegos was riding a 2022 Harley-Davidson Road Glide heading north on Old Highway 80 in Jacumba around 5:45 p.m. on June 3 when the driver of a 2014 Toyota Corolla travelling in the opposite direction attempted to make a left turn into a driveway at Golden Acorn Casino, directly in Gallegos’ path, as reported by the California Highway Patrol.
The collision resulted in Gallegos being thrown onto the roadway, sustaining grave injuries. Despite efforts to airlift him to a hospital, he tragically passed away at a helicopter landing pad at the casino, as confirmed by the medical examiner.
The driver of the Toyota Corolla, a 78-year-old woman from Imperial County, suffered minor injuries in the incident, according to the CHP.
