In a devastating incident in Hardoi, a sand-laden truck overturned on a family sleeping outside their house in the early hours of Wednesday, resulting in the tragic deaths of eight individuals. The Superintendent of Police, Keshav Chadra Goswami, reported that the victims, including children, were buried alive under the weight of the sand.
Local residents rushed to the scene and attempted to rescue the family trapped under the sand, but their efforts were in vain. The situation called for the use of a bulldozer to remove the sand and retrieve the bodies of the deceased.
The victims have been identified as Awdhesh (40) and his wife Sudha (35), along with their children Lalla (5), Sunaina (11), and Buddu (4). Additionally, their relatives Karan (35), Hero (30), and their daughter Komal (5) were also among those who tragically lost their lives in the accident.
One more individual, a five-year-old girl, sustained injuries in the incident and was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The driver of the sand-laden truck has been taken into custody by the authorities in connection with the accident. Investigations into the cause of the overturning of the truck are currently underway to determine any negligence or factors that led to this tragic event.
