Beloved Pilot Kevin Kreger Remembered as a Pillar of the Dearborn Community
Kevin Kreger, a dedicated father, husband, and chiropractor from Dearborn, is being fondly remembered by the community after his tragic passing.
DEARBORN, Mich (FOX 2) – Kevin Kreger, a well-respected figure in Dearborn, is being mourned by many after his untimely death.
“He was a man of humility, confidence, passion, and care,” said Alex Grignon.
Kreger tragically lost his life in a plane crash in Washtenaw County while instructing a student to become a pilot.
The student sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the hospital, while Kreger unfortunately succumbed to the crash at the scene.
“Yesterday was his eldest daughter’s birthday, which only adds to the immense heartbreak,” expressed Grignon. “Every passing moment, we think about the pain his family is enduring, and it truly tugs at our heartstrings. We wish there was more we could do for them.”
Alex Grignon described Kreger as a passionate and caring individual, a role model for the community. Grignon, who coaches the football team at Dearborn High School, had known Kreger since childhood.
“He was always positive, full of passion, and incredibly caring,” Grignon remarked. “At our middle school track events in recent months, he was always the first to volunteer, helping out with timing, coaching, and offering words of encouragement.”
Kevin Kreger’s legacy still lives on at Dearborn High School. In the 1990s, he was a revered figure, serving as team captain and quarterback, leading his team to an undefeated and unscored upon season.
Kevin Kreger was a beloved figure in Dearborn, excelling as a prep football legend and all-state star for the Pioneers in the mid-1990s.
“His achievements on the field were just a glimpse of his life,” Grignon reflected. “Whatever he pursued, he excelled because of his positive attitude, intent, and approach.”
During his college years at Hillsdale, Kreger continued to excel in both football and basketball.
Grignon shared that Kreger even coached him during his freshman year, imparting valuable lessons to the community with sincerity.

“I told our team today that the best way to honor him is to emulate his values – be kind to one another and strive for excellence in everything we do,” Grignon urged.
The National Transportation Safety Board is currently investigating the cause of the tragic crash.
