A 73-year-old man with a previous conviction for murder has been arrested in connection with a three-alarm fire and shooting at Miami’s Temple Court Apartments. Juan Francisco Figueroa, a resident of the building, has been charged with attempted felony murder, arson in the first degree, and firearms charges.

The incident took place on Monday morning when a fire broke out on the third floor of the four-story apartment building. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a man, identified as Feder Biotte, with a gunshot wound to the torso.

According to witness accounts, loud noises resembling gunshots were heard around 8 a.m., followed by an explosion. Biotte was found on the first floor with an abdominal wound, uttering the words “307, the one from 307” in Spanish.

Another resident reported seeing Figueroa, also from apartment 307, running past him and leaving the building. Figueroa was later apprehended during a traffic stop, where he admitted to knowing the gravity of his actions and expressed expectation of a life sentence.

Police discovered a handgun and live rounds in Figueroa’s possession. Further investigation revealed that Figueroa had previously been convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of aggravated assault, although details of these charges remain undisclosed.

Following his arrest, Figueroa was booked at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. It is currently unknown whether he has legal representation.
