Peoria Police Make Arrest During Traffic Stop
Peoria, Illinois – In the early hours of Monday morning, Peoria Police officers made a significant arrest during a routine traffic stop on SW Jefferson Street. The incident unfolded around 2:45 a.m., when officers developed probable cause to search the vehicle in question.
According to PPD Spokesperson Semone Roth, all three individuals inside the vehicle, including two men and a female juvenile, were detained as a result of the search. However, it was the driver, identified as 18-year-old JeSean Williams, who caught the attention of law enforcement.
During the search, officers discovered a loaded handgun on Williams, which had been reported stolen. This led to Williams’ immediate arrest on a series of charges related to the unlawful possession of a firearm.
Specifically, Williams was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, and unlawful possession of a handgun. Following his arrest, Williams was transported to the Peoria County Jail to await further legal proceedings.
