A man is currently in recovery after his vehicle plunged into the waters of Nepco Lake in Wood County, Wisconsin.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, June 10th at 8:59 p.m., prompted a swift response from the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
Eyewitnesses reported that the vehicle, travelling in a northward direction, veered across the center median and southbound lanes before crashing through the bridge fencing and submerging itself in the lake.
The driver, identified as 27-year-old Jerry Mowery, managed to escape from the vehicle and swim to the safety of the shore. Fortunately, he was the sole occupant of the car and received immediate medical attention.
Although investigations are still ongoing, preliminary reports suggest that speed and alcohol may have played a role in the accident.
