Accident – Death – Obituary News :

The trial for an Oshkosh man accused of causing a boating accident while under the influence on the Fox River in 2022 has commenced. 53-year-old Jason Lindemann appeared in court on Monday to face charges of second-degree recklessly endangering safety and failing to render aid after colliding with an occupied boat.

According to the details provided in the criminal complaint, the incident occurred on July 9th, 2022, just before 10 PM. Oshkosh Police and Rescue responded to a distress call reporting multiple injuries resulting from a boat crash. Lindemann’s 38-foot speedboat had collided with a paddlewheel cruiser carrying 44 passengers.

Analysis of GPS data revealed that Lindemann’s boat was traveling at a speed of 46 mph in a designated no-wake zone near the location of the collision. This reckless behaviour significantly increased the risk of an accident.

A witness who was onboard Lindemann’s speedboat at the time of the crash testified that they had been drinking together at a local establishment prior to getting on the boat. The witness positively identified Lindemann as the driver of the speedboat during the collision.

Despite the charges brought against him, Lindemann has maintained his innocence and pleaded not guilty. The trial is expected to span over a period of approximately 10 days, during which further evidence and testimonies will be presented.

Additionally, court records indicate that Lindemann is embroiled in a separate personal injury civil suit with the owner of the paddlewheel boat that he allegedly struck. This legal battle adds another layer of complexity to the already contentious situation.
