A woman in Lake Charles, Louisiana, is currently in hospital recovering after being viciously attacked by a man’s dog while attempting to help him out with some money. The incident, which took place near Sulphur Plaza, quickly turned into a nightmare for 64-year-old Elsa Davila, according to her daughters.
On June 2, while Davila was out grocery shopping, she encountered a man with a dog who was begging for money. In an act of kindness, she decided to offer him some assistance. However, as she was returning from giving him the money, the dog broke free from its leash and launched a brutal attack on Davila.
Davila was immediately rushed to a hospital in New Orleans, where her daughters witnessed the devastating aftermath of the attack. The 64-year-old sustained severe injuries to her face and stomach, as reported on a GoFundMe page that has been set up to support her recovery journey.
Following the attack, Davila underwent plastic surgery and is currently on the path to recovery. However, she is unable to talk or eat normally and is restricted to a liquid diet. Communication with nurses is done through text or writing.
Suspect identified and facing charges
The man responsible for the dog, identified as 37-year-old Kyle Smith, is facing multiple charges in connection to the incident. These charges include trespassing, cruelty to animals, and unlawful ownership of a vicious dog.
Michelle Garcia, one of Davila’s daughters, disclosed that the dog had caused issues in the past at a store near the attack location. The dog was eventually moved off the property due to its aggressive behavior towards customers.

Davila’s daughters describe her as a friendly and caring individual who has been left traumatised by the incident. Despite her fears and nightmares about the attack, she is showing resilience and determination to overcome the ordeal.
