LUBBOCK, Texas — Donovan Sanchez, a 19-year-old who turned himself in after a deadly shooting in North Lubbock, confessed to pushing the victim out of a moving vehicle on Interstate 27, according to court records obtained on Monday evening.

On May 8, the body of 32-year-old Infant of Davila, also known as “Adrian Davila,” was discovered on the road near North Loop 289 and I-27 around 3:25 a.m.

Investigations revealed that Davila had sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was left on the road. The Lubbock Police Department reported that Davila was involved in a verbal altercation with a 16-year-old while in a vehicle, and the teenager shot him.

New court documents indicated that Sanchez told authorities that after Davila was shot, he was unsure of what to do. Sanchez confessed to opening the front door of the vehicle and pushing Davila out before driving away, as per court records.

The teenager accused of shooting Davila was apprehended in the 1900 block of Avenue L on May 9. He was charged with murder and taken to the Lubbock Juvenile Justice Center. Sanchez voluntarily surrendered at the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit office on June 4. He faces charges of tampering with evidence and was transferred to the Lubbock County Detention Center. Sanchez posted a $50,000 bond on June 5 and was no longer in custody as of Tuesday.
