Accident – Death – Obituary News : A tragic incident shook the Indian community in Canada as a 28-year-old Indian-origin man, Yuvraj Goyal, was shot dead in what appears to be a targeted killing in British Columbia province. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police responded to a shooting call in Surrey on Friday morning and found Goyal’s lifeless body. The police have arrested and charged four individuals with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
Goyal, who worked at a car dealership in Surrey, was described by his sister, Charu Singhla, as a hardworking individual with no ties to organized crime. The family was left in shock and disbelief as they had no prior indication of any threat to Goyal’s life. According to Goyal’s brother-in-law, Bawandeap, the victim was on a call with his mother in India just moments before he was fatally shot outside his car after returning from his regular gym routine.
The suspects arrested in connection with Goyal’s murder are 23-year-old Manvir Basram, 20-year-old Sahib Basra, 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty, all from Surrey, and 20-year-old Keilon Francois from Ontario. They have been charged with first-degree murder and are currently in police custody.
Following the shooting, authorities were alerted to a vehicle fire near the crime scene. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team has been actively working on the case, emphasizing that while initial evidence points towards a targeted attack, the motive behind Goyal’s killing remains under investigation. The police have urged anyone with information or dash-camera footage from the area to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
