Ottawa: The tragic incident involving the fatal shooting of Yuvraj Goyal, a 28-year-old Indian descent individual, has shocked the community in Surrey, British Columbia. According to local law enforcement, four individuals have been apprehended and charged with first-degree murder in connection with the case.

The victim, identified as Yuvraj Goyal, was discovered deceased by authorities responding to reports of a shooting in Surrey on Friday morning, as confirmed by the homicide unit of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in an official statement.

Goyal was employed at a local car dealership in Surrey, as reported by Global News, with his sister, Charu Singhla, expressing disbelief over the motive behind his untimely demise. The family has reiterated that they were unaware of any potential ties Goyal may have had with organised crime.

Describing the tragic events leading to Goyal’s death, his brother-in-law, Bawandeap, recounted that the victim was conversing with his mother, who resides in India, just moments before the fatal incident occurred.

Following the shooting, law enforcement swiftly apprehended four suspects — Manvir Basram (23), Sahib Basra (20), Harkirat Jhutty (23) all from Surrey, and Keilon Francois (20) from Ontario — who have now been formally charged with first-degree murder, as per information obtained from CBC News.

In an official statement released on Saturday, the homicide unit disclosed that authorities were alerted to a vehicle fire shortly after the shooting took place.

Subsequently, the four suspects were formally charged with first-degree murder on Saturday, as confirmed by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team.

While initial evidence points towards a targeted shooting, investigators are diligently working to ascertain the motive behind the tragic killing of Mr Goyal, a respected member of the community with no prior police interactions. The homicide unit has urged anyone in possession of relevant information or individuals who may have captured footage of the incident through dash-cameras to come forward and assist the ongoing investigation.
