A 28-year-old Indian-origin man named Yuvraj Goyal was tragically shot dead in what authorities are calling a suspected “targeted killing” in Canada’s British Columbia province. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police have arrested and charged four individuals with first-degree murder in connection with the case.
The victim, Yuvraj Goyal, was discovered deceased by police officers who were responding to reports of a shooting in Surrey on the morning of June 7. Goyal, who worked at a car dealership in Surrey, was described by his sister, Charu Singhla, as a hardworking individual with no known ties to organised crime.
According to Goyal’s brother-in-law, Bawandeap, the victim was on the phone with his mother in India just moments before the fatal shooting occurred. Bawandeap recounted that Goyal had returned from his daily gym routine and was shot as he stepped out of his car.
Arrests and Charges
Following the shooting, police swiftly apprehended four suspects in connection with the case. The individuals, identified as 23-year-old Manvir Basram, 20-year-old Sahib Basra, 23-year-old Harkirat Jhutty, and 20-year-old Keilon Francois, have all been charged with first-degree murder, as reported by CBC News.
Authorities were alerted to a vehicle fire shortly after the shooting took place, leading to the subsequent arrests of the four suspects. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team confirmed that the suspects have been charged with first-degree murder.
