Trinity Poague, an 18-year-old former Georgia pageant winner, was arrested in January on charges of murder and battery in connection with the tragic death of 18-month-old Jaxton Drew, also known as Romeo Angeles. The disturbing allegations against Poague were revealed in an indictment released last month, shedding light on the horrific events that led to the young boy’s untimely demise.

The Georgia Southwestern State University Police Department sought the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) to probe Jaxton’s death after he was rushed to a hospital in Americus, Ga. Unfortunately, Jaxton succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Poague, who was a student at the university, was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the child’s death.

The indictment alleged that Poague’s actions caused severe injuries to Jaxton, including serious disfigurement to his liver, rendering his brain useless, and inflicting massive trauma to his head and torso. Poague faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, and cruelty to children as detailed in documents published by WDHN and WALB.

Witnesses revealed that Poague was in a romantic relationship with Jaxton’s father at the time of the incident, adding a layer of complexity to the case. On the day of Jaxton’s death, students in Poague’s college dorm reported hearing a child crying for an extended period before the cries suddenly ceased, leaving everyone puzzled about what had occurred.

Despite her arrest, Poague was released on a $75,000 bond in February but had to wear an ankle monitor while outside jail. She was also stripped of her “Miss Donalsonville” title, signaling the severity of the allegations against her. Poague’s legal proceedings are ongoing, and it remains unclear if she has entered pleas or secured legal representation.
