Tragic Crash Claims Four Lives in Pitt County, North Carolina

In a devastating incident late Saturday night, four individuals lost their lives and two others sustained injuries after a vehicle collided with a guardrail on a highway in Pitt County, North Carolina. The driver, who initially survived the crash, tragically perished while attempting to stop traffic following the collision.

According to reports from North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens, the tragic accident occurred at approximately 11:48 p.m. EDT. The driver, identified as Suhziah Spruill, 22, from Snow Hill, North Carolina, was travelling north on State Highway 903 at a high speed when the vehicle veered off the road and struck a guardrail.

Tragically, five passengers in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and were ejected from the vehicle upon impact. Three passengers succumbed to their injuries at the scene, while two others were rushed to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville with severe but non-life-threatening injuries.

The three individuals who lost their lives in the tragic incident have been identified as Nykwon Coppedge, 22, from Snow Hill; Zykhia Connor, 18, from Grifton; and Amoni Spruill, 20, from Farmville, all hailing from North Carolina.

Following the initial collision, Suhziah Spruill exited the vehicle and attempted to halt oncoming traffic. Tragically, he was struck by a Kia Forte and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the Forte, whose identity has not been disclosed by authorities, will not face charges in connection with the incident.

An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the circumstances that led to the fatal crash, and further details will be released as they become available.
