A devastating accident in Pitt County, North Carolina, has left four people dead and two others injured after a vehicle crashed into a guardrail late Saturday night. The driver, who survived the initial crash, tragically lost their life while attempting to stop traffic.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol Master Trooper Rico L. Stephens, the incident occurred around 11:48 p.m. EDT on State Highway 903. Suhziah Spruill, 22, of Snow Hill, North Carolina, was driving north at a high speed when he veered off the road and collided with a guardrail, as reported by WITN-TV.

Tragically, five passengers in the vehicle were not wearing seat belts and were ejected from the car upon impact, leading to the deaths of three passengers at the scene. The two survivors were rushed to ECU Health Medical Center in Greenville with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to WCTI-TV.

The victims have been identified as Nykwon Coppedge, 22, of Snow Hill; Zykhia Connor, 18, of Grifton; and Amoni Spruill, 20, of Farmville, all from North Carolina.

Following the crash, Suhziah Spruill exited his vehicle and entered the roadway in an attempt to halt traffic. Tragically, he was struck by a Kia Forte and succumbed to his injuries at the scene, as reported by WNCT.

Authorities have confirmed that the driver of the Forte, who has not been publicly identified, will not face charges in connection with the incident. An ongoing investigation is being conducted to determine the factors contributing to this tragic accident.
