Stanley Merriweather III : “Police Identify Teens Shot Dead at Northside Apartment”

Jacksonville, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office has identified the two 16-year-olds who tragically lost their lives in a shooting at a Northside apartment complex. The victims have been named as Stanley Merriweather III and Travaris Odol. Merriweather’s family described him as a good student who excelled in school.

The incident occurred at the Island Pointe apartment complex around 4:30 a.m. The victims were discovered in one of the parking lots, with residents reporting that the gunshots were heard outside building 300, causing fear and alarm in the neighborhood.

Witnesses described the harrowing scene, with one resident recounting, “It was at least 10-15 shots go off, I thought it was firecrackers going off it was one after the other.”

Authorities have indicated that the two teenagers were not residents of the apartment complex and believe the incident to be isolated. A neighbor, who wished to remain anonymous for safety reasons, reported seeing individuals dressed in all black near the victims after the shooting.

The neighbor stated, “I saw one guy on the ground and two guys standing on top of them. He ran down to, I’m not sure to what apartment number but across the street, he got into a silver or golden pickup truck, 4-door pickup truck and he skirted off. I saw another person run towards the exit of the gates.”

The witness promptly called 911 and provided information to aid the investigation. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.

“I’ve been alive for 25 years and I’ve never witnessed anything like that,” the neighbor expressed, highlighting the shock and distress caused by the tragic event.
