Pratisha Akira : “Schoolgirl Raped in Chennai: 2 Arrested”

CHENNAI: A horrifying incident has come to light in Saligramam, where a 15-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly raped by two men after her drink was spiked at a birthday party. The victim, who remains unnamed, experienced abdominal pain and confided in her sister about the assault, leading to the arrest of two suspects on Sunday. The accused individuals include Pratisha Akira, a junior artist in films, and Somesh, a college student in his twenties. Another suspect, identified as Williams, is currently at large.

The victim, a class 11 student, first met Pratisha Akira at a coffee shop in Anna Nagar, where they struck up a friendship. Last month, the victim was invited to Akira’s birthday party at her apartment in Saligramam. Little did she know that this seemingly innocent invitation would turn into a nightmare.

At the party, Akira, Somesh, and Williams allegedly spiked the victim’s drink, causing her to lose consciousness after consuming it. While she was in a vulnerable state, Somesh and Williams proceeded to rape her. The victim awoke the next morning to the horrifying realization of what had transpired.

Instead of seeking help, the victim was allegedly threatened by Pratisha Akira not to disclose the incident to anyone. Akira reportedly warned the teenager that she would face harm from her friends if she decided to report the assault to the authorities. Fearing for her safety, the victim remained silent for several days.

However, the physical pain she experienced finally prompted her to confide in her elder sister, who then took her to a hospital for a medical examination. Subsequently, the victim’s family lodged a formal police complaint, leading to the initiation of a thorough investigation by officers from the Virugambakkam A WPS (All Women Police Station).

Following the confirmation of the rape, the police swiftly arrested Pratisha Akira and Somesh, who were later remanded in judicial custody. Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend the third suspect, Williams, who remains at large. The authorities are committed to ensuring that all individuals involved in this heinous crime are brought to justice.
