Mercedes Ortiz : “Milford Woman & Child Found Dead, Man Charged”

The tragic deaths of a woman and a child in a Milford home have been identified by police as 31-year-old Mercedes Ortiz and 3-year-old Aloni Truong.

According to court documents obtained by Delaware Online/The News Journal, Ortiz and Truong’s deaths were part of a planned murder-suicide that took a tragic turn. Milford police have charged 31-year-old Davis Truong in connection with their deaths.

The incident unfolded when police were called to The Palace on Route 113 at 4:45 a.m. by two bystanders who were providing medical assistance to Davis Truong, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Truong informed officers that he had been shot at a residence on the 6000 block of Pebblebrook Drive in the nearby Brookstone Trace neighbourhood before being taken to the hospital.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a trail of blood leading towards the Brookstone Trace development and the main entrance of the residence mentioned by Davis Truong. A resident allowed officers entry, where they observed a significant amount of blood on the floor.

Inside the residence, officers found Ortiz and Aloni Truong deceased from gunshot wounds in what was identified as Davis Truong’s bedroom. A loaded SCCY 9mm handgun was also found in the bedroom near the door, according to court documents.

During a subsequent interview at the hospital, Davis Truong confessed to officers that he had killed Ortiz and Aloni Truong as part of an agreement to carry out a murder-suicide. He claimed that the act was motivated by love rather than hate, as detailed in court records.

Davis Truong has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He is currently being held on a $2.2 million bail.
