Accident – Death – Obituary News :

On a Sunday morning, Norfolk Police received a report regarding a vehicle with a driver slumped over the steering wheel in the 1100 block of South 3rd Street. Captain Mike Bauer stated that officers located the vehicle and identified the passenger as 30-year-old Kirstie Koch from Genoa.

Upon speaking with her, officers found a piece of tin foil, a straw, and a syringe in her possession. The tin foil and syringe tested positive for fentanyl, leading to her arrest for possession of a controlled substance. Koch was initially held in the Norfolk City Jail before being transferred to the Madison County Jail.

Earlier that same morning, a Norfolk police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 600 block of West Omaha Avenue. During the stop, the officer interacted with the driver, identified as 34-year-old Tahashaye Canty-Neely from Norfolk.

The officer detected the smell of alcohol coming from Canty-Neely and discovered that his driver’s license had been revoked. As a result, Canty-Neely was arrested for driving during revocation. A search of his vehicle yielded a small plastic baggie containing a white, powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.

Upon arrival at the jail, Canty-Neely was asked to perform field sobriety tests, which indicated impairment. He was also requested to provide a breath sample, but he refused. Canty-Neely was subsequently arrested for fourth offense driving under revocation, third offense driving under the influence of alcohol, refusal to submit to a chemical breath test, and possession of a controlled substance.

Like Koch, Canty-Neely was initially held in the Norfolk City Jail before being transferred to the Madison County Jail for further processing.

These incidents highlight the ongoing efforts of Norfolk Police to address drug-related offences and ensure the safety of the community. The cooperation of law enforcement officers and the vigilance of citizens reporting suspicious activities play a crucial role in maintaining peace and order in the city.
